Georgia Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologists GSNMT Call for Student Abstracts and Posters The Georgia Society of Nuclear Medicine Technologists requests submission of student posters for evaluation and award at the annual meeting, April 25-27, 2008, St. Simons Island Georgia. Posters may be submitted by individual students or a group of students (no more than 4 individual technologist students per group). Abstracts and posters will be judged independently of each other. There will be a monetary award of $100 to the top Abstract submission and $100 to the top Poster presentation. Topic Submission: All student groups must submit a descriptive abstract and research bibliography of their project to the GSNMT by March 30, 2008. Abstracts and accompanying bibliographies must be submitted in a group in one email from the NMT Program Directors to Susan Coleman, President-elect, susan1557@gmail.com. All applicants must be currently enrolled in an accredited NMT program. Abstract Judging Criteria: • Originality: The presenter(s) should describe a position, technique, or principle relevant to diagnostic or therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures or scientific advancement, evidence of scientific research, effort, or ingenuity.• Educational Value: The abstract content contributes to a higher standard of diagnostic or therapeutic work, shows outstanding technical or educational value, research, etc.• Technical Accuracy: Research must display accurate/correct information. A listing of references must be submitted at the time of application. The references must be obtained from peer review and/or scientific journals and follow the reference style specified in the American Medical Association Manual of Style or APA format.Poster Judging Criteria: • Display: At least one member of the group must be in attendance at the annual meeting. Posters must be displayed by 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 26th to qualify for judging.• Originality: The presenter(s) should describe a position, technique, or principle relevant to diagnostic or therapeutic nuclear medicine procedures or scientific advancement, evidence of scientific research, effort, or ingenuity.• Educational Value: The poster content contributes to a higher standard of diagnostic or therapeutic work, shows outstanding technical or educational value, research, etc. • Technical Accuracy: Research must display accurate/correct information; correct labeling of images, charts, diagrams, as well as good image quality. A listing of references must be submitted at the time of application. The references must be obtained from peer review and/or scientific journals and follow the reference style specified in the American Medical Association Manual of Style or APA format. Photographic references must also be included either on the image itself or listed on the back of the poster. • Presentation Quality: The poster should be mounted on tri-fold display board (no professionally mounted boards will be accepted), with quality mounting of descriptive material, images, photographs, and computer graphics. It should demonstrate organizational balance, completeness, neatness, and thoroughness in accordance with HIPAA rules and regulations, no patient or institutional identification is permissible. Should this occur, the poster will not be permitted to be displayed for competition and will be removed.
